To build anticipation around the release of Sims 4, we launched a first-to-market activation in France, featuring custom stories written by 2 of our French Wattpad Creators.

Challenge

Build awareness and excitement around the release of Sims 4  within Wattpad’s France market.

What we did

  • We launched a first-to-market campaign in France, by  enlisting the help of 2 French Wattpad Creators, @illana_ca and @larmesmauves  to create custom stories based on The Sims game, that drove excitement amongst their fans

  • We took over Wattpad’s high impact Home Feed Carousel placement to drive users towards to the custom stories, which featured the campaign at the very top of users’ home page

  • Launched a 1st party Brand Survey to measure overall campaign effectiveness and ad recall and purchase intent

  • We extended campaign reach through leveraging a strong mix of media placements which ran in a variety of on-platform spots across both web and in-app

Results

Our audience in France was so excited for the Sims 4 release, and the campaign made a huge impact, resulting in:

  • The campaign generated over 6.4M+ impressions across all media placements

  • 9.5K combined reads across both Wattpad Creator stories

  • Delivered 944% of target Home Promoted Carousel impressions

  • Strong results from the 1st Party Brand Study:

    • 8.6% looked up The Sims 4 content or visited The Sims website

    • After recalling the ads, 5% played The Sims 4 game

    • 4.5% of users looked into purchasing or purchased the game
